A Thrilling Encounter At St James Park

Newcastle United vs Brighton Hove Albion: Sean Longstaff's Stoppage-Time Equalizer Rescues a Point

A Thrilling Encounter at St. James' Park

Sean Longstaff's dramatic stoppage-time goal earned Newcastle United a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Brighton Hove Albion in a pulsating Premier League clash at St. James' Park.

The Magpies appeared destined for defeat after Joel Veltman's first-half strike gave the visitors the lead, but Longstaff's late heroics salvaged a point for the home side.

Brighton started the brighter of the two teams and took the lead in the 25th minute. Veltman found himself unmarked at the far post and headed home from close range after a well-worked cross from Leandro Trossard.

Newcastle struggled to create clear-cut chances in the first half, but they improved after the break and were rewarded for their persistence in the dying moments of the game.

With time running out, Longstaff latched onto a loose ball on the edge of the box and unleashed a powerful shot that flew past Brighton goalkeeper Robert Sanchez to secure a valuable point for Newcastle.

The result leaves Newcastle in 11th place in the Premier League standings, while Brighton remains in eighth place. Both teams will be looking to build on this point when they return to action next weekend.

Newcastle United will travel to face Manchester United, while Brighton Hove Albion will host Arsenal at the Amex Stadium.
